DUCK RACE VOLUNTEER APPEAL
SUNDAY 20 JUNE
Dear Parent,
As you are aware we are fast approaching this years Duck Race that is on Sunday 20 June. This is one of the group’s main forms of fund raising, and is also a very high profile community event. In order for the event to run efficiently we need to recruit volunteers to help with the erecting and dismantling of the marquees and to cook and sell burgers and hot-dogs.
On the notice board at the Scout Headquarters you will find a sheet, which I would ask you to fill in to indicate your availability to help on the day. It has three columns for availability, Sunday set-up this is the erecting of the marquees of which there are two one 75’ x 30’ and the other 30’ x 20’. We will be starting around 7.00am, and would hope to finish by 11.00am. Sunday PM is to help out with the Bar-b-Que from around 1.00pm until the close (usually around 4pm). Sunday Breakdown is the dismantling of Marquees and returning to Scout HQ, which will start at soon as the event has finished. If you can spare any time during the day, please sign the Volunteer list, we would rather have many people doing short stints. Volunteers will be contacted on Friday 18 June to confirm arrangements. Without your help we will seriously have to consider our continued involvement with the event, and as a result the lost income could result in increases in your child’s fees.
